Client Shows Message Sent Unsucessfully, Server Says Sucessfull

Successful faxes appear as failed events on fax-sharing or message-sharing client or host
Situation:
After successfully sending a fax from a fax-sharing or message-sharing client to a host, the fax is displayed as a failed event in both the host and the client send logs.

Solution:
Please test after completing each section to see if the problem is resolved. If the problem persists, continue to the next section for another resolution.

Check the system time
This situation may be caused by a difference in the time and date settings between the client and the host. Make sure these settings are as precise as possible on each machine. Certain network operating systems such as Novell NetWare allow for time synchronization on all client computers. Setting this up on your network should resolve the issue.

If the time cannot be synchronized, set the time on the host a few minutes earlier than the time on the clients.

An excellent way to synchronize the time is to execute a NET command on the client. At a DOS prompt, or in the Run box, enter the following command.

As an example:

net time \\255.255.255.255 /set /yes [Enter]
net time \\host_system /set /yes [Enter]

The client's clock is set to match that of the fax-sharing or message-sharing host. The command can also be included in a batch file in the Windows StartUp group to automatically ensure that all clients are set to the same time as the host.


Run Rebuild.bat to repair all logs and phonebooks

To rebuild the Log and Phonebook files

1-If you are running Windows NT, Windows 2000 or Windows XP, stop the WinFax PRO service.
2-In the WinFax PRO Message Manager, click the Tools menu, and then click Maintenance Utility.
3-If you cannot launch the Message Manager, or you experience errors while launching the Message Manager, follow the instructions on manually rebuilding the logs and phonebook files.
4-Click Launch Application or Applet.
Select Rebuild Phonebook/Logs, and then click OK.
5-Find the Data folder. By default it is in the C:\Program
6-Files\Symantec\WinFax folder.
7-Select the <File name>.wfb file, and click Open to start the repair process.
9-Click Close.
Repeat steps 4-6 for all other .wfb files. (These are the phonebook and log files.)
When all .wfb files have been rebuilt, click Close on the SymDiag window.
At the prompt that asks whether you want to restart the Message Manager, click Yes. The Message Manager restarts.

Close all background tasks and delete temporary files
To close all background tasks under Windows 95/98/Me:
1. Exit all open programs.
2. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del once. The Close Program dialog box appears.
3. Select an item in the list, and click End Task.
4. Repeat these steps for each item in the list, except Explorer and Systray.

To close all background tasks under Windows NT/2000:
1. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del once.
2. Click Task List.
3. Click the Applications tab.
4. Select an item, and click End Task
5. Repeat step 4 until all applications have been shut down.

To delete temporary files:
1. Click Start, point to Find, and click Files or Folders. The Find dialog box appears.
2. Select Local Drives from the Look In drop-down list.
3. Check Include subfolders (if not already checked).
4. In the Named field, type *.tmp and click Find Now. Windows displays all files matching the search criteria.
5. Once all files have been found, click Edit, and click Select All. All files will be selected.
6. Press Delete. This will move all files to the Recycle Bin.
7. Close the Find window.
8. Right-click Recycle Bin, and click Empty Recycle Bin. This will empty the Recycle Bin of all contents.
NOTE: If there were any files in the Recycle Bin prior to adding the .tmp files, make sure that you can delete all of them.
9. Restart the computer.


Modify the registry
NOTES:
• The steps in the Modify the registry section should only be performed on the client computer(s).
• Any specific locations that have been created will need to be recreated after this procedure.

CAUTION: Neither Symantec nor Microsoft can offer technical support on their products if any incorrect changes have been made to the Windows registry. A mistake could require you to reinstall Windows, and could also result in permanent data loss or corrupted files.

We strongly encourage you to back up your system registry before making any changes. Please make sure you modify only the specified keys. If you are not comfortable editing the registry, please obtain assistance from a professional.
Back up the registry key
1. Close all open applications, and stop the WinFax PRO or TalkWorks PRO service if you are running Windows NT or Windows 2000.
2. Click Start, and click Run. The Run dialog box appears.
3. Type regedit in the Run field, and click OK. The Registry Editor window opens.
4. Select the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Delrina/Commsuite/7.0
5. Click Registry, and click Export Registry File. The Export Registry file dialog box appears.
6. Select C: from the Save In drop-down list.
7. In the File Name field, type a name for the registry key you are exporting. Do not add an extension to the end of the file name.
8. Click Save. The registry key is saved to the C: drive.
NOTE: To reimport a registry key, double-click the exported key on the C:\ drive. You will receive a message stating that the key has been successfully entered into the registry.

Delete the registry key
1. In the Registry Editor, locate and select the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Delrina/Commsuite/7.0/Modems
2. Press Delete. The key is deleted.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the following keys,

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Delrina/Commsuite/7.0/WFXIFModems
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Delrina/Commsuite/7.0/Locations
4. Close the Registry Editor, and restart Windows.

Run Wtnsetup.exe
1. Exit all open applications, and stop the WinFax PRO or TalkWorks PRO service if you are running Windows NT or Windows 2000.
2. Click Start, point to Find, and click Files or Folders. The Find dialog box appears.
3. From the Look In drop-down list, select the drive onto which you installed WinFax PRO/TalkWorks PRO.
4. Check Include subfolders (if not already checked).
5. In the Named field, type wtnsetup.exe and then click Find Now. Windows displays all files matching your search criteria.
6. Double-click Wtnsetup.exe and follow through the wizard.
7. When this is finished, restart the computer. The modem should now be set up for use.
